Stay Tips

Septic System – IMPORTANT! Casa Kronos uses an old-fashioned septic system, which means you should not flush anything down a drain or toilet bowl that is not completely biodegradable. That applies to just about everything except food and feces. Please… no baby wipes, diapers, condoms, tampons, or anything that will clog up the system. If the septic system exhibits any problems during your stay, please give us a call and advise us so we can fix it.

Exterior Doors, Windows, and Balconies –

Doors – Be careful opening any exterior doors including those leading to the rooftop terrace. The coastal winds can take the doors right out of your hands if you are not careful.

Windows – For your safety, please be aware that the windows do not have screens. We recommend keeping them closed when unattended or at night to prevent insects from entering and to avoid potential safety hazards such as accidental falls, especially for children. If you do open them, please don’t forget to lock them back up for security reasons.

Balconies – Please use caution when spending time on the balconies. Do not sit, lean, or place items on the glass railings, and always supervise children when they are on or near balcony areas. The balconies are a great place to relax, but safety should always come first.

Fire Safety – For your safety, fire extinguishers are located below the kitchen sink and in the bathroom on the rooftop terrace. Please do not take them, they are for guest safety. Smoke detectors are located in the house. Please do not remove them. Please do not smoke inside the house and if you smoke on the rooftop, please throw the ends into the garbage outside. Please do not grill food or build fires anywhere by the pool or near the house. Never build a fire on the lawn or close to the house.

Stove Top – Just a warning about the stove top: the control dials under the glass are very sensitive. If you set anything on top of them, they will beep at you. There is a locking feature that keeps the buttons from going off at random. To lock or unlock the glass stove top, press on the lock icon for 3 seconds. The glass stove top is fragile and can crack if heavy items are dropped on it. We kindly ask that you take extra care while cooking to help us keep everything in great condition for all guests.

Charcoal and wood Grill – There is a built-in grill on the rooftop for your use. Please do your best to clean it after each use. Grill accessories, including a lighter, a pair of tongs, spatula, and cleaning brush are located in the kitchen area. You can purchase charcoal and/or wood at any grocery store in town. There is a fire extinguisher in the guest bathroom on the rooftop. – Please do not take these, they are for guest safety. 

Ice Maker and Water – The refrigerator can make ice using the filtered water in the jug stored in the cabinet to the left of the sink. If you plan to use the ice maker, you’ll find the power switch in the freezer drawer, just above the ice bin. Please note: if left on, the ice maker will continue to use all available drinking water from the jug and potentially burn the motor if no water is present. We recommend turning it off once you have enough ice.

For your health and safety, we do not recommend drinking the tap water in Mexico. If you’d like to purchase more filtered water during your stay, you can bring the jug to any OXXO store to be refilled. You can also buy ice at the OXXO if you need a quicker option. Before checking out, please don’t forget to turn off the ice maker.

Hot water – The systems in Mexico may work a little differently than what you’re used to in the U.S. It can take a minute or two for the water to heat up, especially in the mornings or after periods of no use. We recommend letting the shower run briefly until it reaches your desired temperature.Also, be aware that in some showers, the “C” on the handle stands for caliente (hot) — not cold. The “H” may indicate helado or frío (cold) depending on the fixture. If the water isn’t heating as expected, try turning the handle the other direction.

Water pressure and temperature can fluctuate slightly depending on usage, but things usually even out quickly. Feel free to reach out if you have any issues during your stay.

Security Cameras – There are four security cameras located by all outside entrances for your security. We monitor these occasionally via internet. 

Pets – We know pets are part of the family, but if it has fur, scales, or crawls… please leave ‘em at home.

Garbage Collection – Currently there are large dumpsters located throughout the neighborhood. If you need a place to take the garbage out during your stay you are welcome to use any of the dumpster located within “Zeus Residential.” 

Pool Safety –
We hope you enjoy the private pool — it’s one of the highlights of staying at Casa Kronos. For your safety and comfort:

• Always supervise children and non-swimmers while in or near the pool.
• Avoid running on wet surfaces, and use caution around steps and edges.
• no diving, our pool is simply not deep enough.
• Glass is not allowed near or in the pool. Please use plastic cups or reusable bottles when enjoying drinks outside.

Rooftop Terrace Safety – 
The rooftop terrace is a great space for relaxing, dining, and grilling, but safety is still important:

• Children should always be supervised when using the terrace.
• The terrace is equipped with a safety railing, but please avoid sitting, leaning, or placing items on it.
• Be cautious on stairs and edges, especially at night.
• Use care when grilling and never leave open flames unattended.

Finally…. Relax and enjoy yourself. Make yourself at home and you are welcome to use anything that you have access to. Just do us a favor and:

1. Clean and/or replace what you use.

2. If you accidentally break something, just let us know.

3. Take any perishable food items with you (anything that will spoil in the next few days). You are welcome to leave condiments (ketchup, mustard, or spices etc.) for the next tenant if you wish.
